Calling Out & Pushing Back: Holding Corporate & Governmental Bad Actors Accountable

Join us for the 14th Annual Youth Summit on Climate and Sustainability. The Summit will offer a fun educational day of environmental speakers, workshops, exhibits, and activities. It is offered free to all and primarily draws students in grades 7-12.   Summit attendees will have the opportunity to meet and network with more than 150 student attendees from over 50 area schools. There will be approximately 10 workshops addressing various topics related to our overall theme of "bad actors" in the corporate and government sectors.

Workshop facilitators will include local organizations such as Sunrise Boston, Mass 350 for a Better Future, Corporate Accountability, Environmental League of Massachusetts, New England Aquarium, and Greenovate Boston. Topics to be covered will include: Corporate Disinformation Campaigns; Climate Denial, Greenwashing, and Delayed Climate Action; The Corporatization of Academia; Targeting & Killing of Environmental Activists; Corporate Raiding and Privatization of Natural Resources: Some of the Worst "Bad Actors"; Profits Before People and Planet; Sustainability Demands Justice; Big Polluters; Replacing Oil and Gas; Fighting the Good Fight: Grassroots Heroes; Habitats and Eco-Systems; Policy Missteps and Global Impacts: The Anthropocene Epoch.

Also featured: Exhibitors which attendees can visit to interact and learn about sustainability during the lunch break from 12noon-1:30pm.

The summit will begin at 9:30am with introductions and a featured keynote speaker (TBA), followed by concurrent workshops from 11am-12noon. Following the lunch break, we will reconvene for a discussion and brainstorming session and a wrap up.
