Language, Information and Power

This semester, Radius is proud to co-sponsor MIT Philosophy’s undergraduate seminar, “Language, Information and Power”, taught by Professor Justin Khoo. (24-192; P/F 2-0-4). The class will meet on Tuesdays from 7pm-8:30pm in 32-D461. Dinner will be served.

The seminar will explore foundational issues about language and communication by investigating different ways language and its use affects various aspects of lived experience. Topics will include censorship and dissent; trigger warnings; harm, hate and intentionality; post-truth politics; lying; propaganda; and communication in non-cooperative contexts. Grade will be based equally on class participation and a final opinion-style piece.
