We are very proud to annouce the 11th Annual Youth Summit on Climate and Sustainablity on May 13. This decade+ relationship is a cornerstone of our spring semester and an exciting way to connect with the youth of Boston/Cambridge and the metropolitan area.
The day includes a keynote speaker, free breakfast, free lunch, workshops, as well as 30 plus exhibitors, including Greenovate Boston, Boston Green Fest, Quabbin Regional HS Composting & Garden Club, Rain Forest Reptiles, Baja Face Painting, the YouthCAN photo booth, and many more. The Summmit generally draws around 200-250 students and educators from more than 50 area schools in Massachusetts and the Greater Boston area. It is hosted by Boston Latin School YouthCAN in partnership with the Technology and Culture Forum at MIT.
Every year the Summit focuses on a different theme related to climate change and sustainability. This year the focus is: Youth Activism and Social Justice as they relate to Climate Change and Sustainability.
We are delighted to announce that Mariama White Hammond
, will be our keynote speaker
. She will deliver a powerful message about youth activism and sustainability based on the extensive work she has done in the Boston community inspiring young change-makers and she will speak about the necessity of pursuing social justice as a central element of any and all sustainability work.
The Summit will feature an exciting slate of workshops related to youth activism and the social justice issues that are connected to climate change and sustainability. Tem Blessed and Blessed Energy, a green hiphop group, will kick off the day!
