Speak Up!!

Awareness has been building around the issue of fossil fuel divestment. Not only here in Cambridge, at MIT and Harvard, but across the country and the globe. According to GoFossilFree, universities and colleges, religious institutions and other organizations are examining the way their funds are being invested and are calling for divestment from fossil fuels. Only hours ago, The Guardian, reported that more than 200 staff members of two London universities have asked that the universities join the fossil fuel divestment movement.

Locally, last week, Harvard University students, faculty and staff (and other community members) participated in Heat Week!-- a series of demonstrations, workshops and lectures regarding Harvard's enormous endowment ($36.4 billion) and how to steer that endowment away from fossil fuel investment.  On the MIT campus on April 14, MIT's Conversation on Climate Change hosted a public debate  in Kresge Auditorium on the pros and cons of investing (or divesting) in fossil fuels.

Whether or not you think divestment is part of the solution, MIT is encouraging the entire community to engage in the Conversations on Climate Change Tour. This is your chance to voice your opinions, share ideas and concerns, and join in the larger conversation taking place on campus.  Here is the schedule for the listening tour Show up and lend your voice!
