Last semester, on September 19th, Vice President for Research, Maria Zuber, announced the launching of MIT's Conversation on Climate Change. The mission is " to explore and assess the broad range of actions that MIT could take to make a significant positive contribution to confront climate change." This campus-wide initiative seeks input from the MIT community on how best we can effect change, in both large and small ways.

One of the ways in which we can get involved is to contribute to the Idea Bank.  Submit your ideas, simple to complex, on ways we can address the challenges.  Ideas range from new educational initiatives and research, improvements on campus and finding ways to vastly reduce our own carbon footprint here on campus.  Many ideas have already been submitted-- such as providing more water bottle filling stations on campus to making sure that all new MIT-based construction is environmentally sustainable.

Climate change is real. It's critical we find ways to mitigate its effects. Who better than the MIT community to come up with creative, workable solutions?

Get involved. Submit your ideas.  Join the conversation!

The first event of the Spring semester will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 3:30 in Stata 32-123.  The guest speaker will be Dr. Larry Linden, MIT alum and former General Partner and Managing Director of Goldman Sachs.  Come here Dr. Linden describe the transformation that brought him to launch an effort to move the politics of climate change in the US.
